East Brewton passes $1.76M budget

The East Brewton City Council passed a $1.76 million budget Monday night.
Highlights of the budget include:
• $16,500 in beer taxes;
• $78,000 in city gas tax;
• $11,000 in cigarette tax;
• $106,000 in property tax;
• $791,000 in sales tax;
• $389,000 in garbage;
• $141,000 in privilege license;
• $50,000 in fines or fees;
• $27,500 in municipal corrections funds;
• $10,500 in judge’s discretionary funds;
• $15,500 in 7 cents gas tax;
• $3,900 in 5 cents gas tax
Expenses are projected to total $1.76 million.
Those expenses include:
• $19,260 in salaries for the mayor and council;
• $41,506 for clerical salaries;• $15,500 in 7 cents gas tax;
• $3,900 in 5 cents gas tax

• $35,000 for gas all departments

• $112,816.56 for bond payment
• $12,931.08 for police cars;
• $22,959.36 for garbage trucks;
The police department salaries make up $270,112, fire department salaries make up $125,593, $174, 108 is allocated for street department and more.
Other highlighted expenses include $7,831.66 for the school patrol; $4,000 for Sail Site, and $2,727.84.
