A Brewton man died in a single-vehicle crash at Old Flomaton Road and Campbell Road in Century, Fla. on Oct. 23, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the FHP, Jordan Cooper, 37, of Brewton, was driving his 1999 Chevrolet Sliverado south on Old Flomaton Road and approaching the right curve in the roadway.
According to the FHS, Cooper failed to negotiate the curve and crossed the center line, where his vehicle ran off the roadway to the left onto the grass shoulder.
The FHP said the front of Cooper’s Silverado collided with a power pole on the shoulder, and the vehicle’s front left tire caught the drop off and drove down the embankment.
Cooper’s vehicle then collided with the tree line that surrounded a large body of water, and then entered the water, where it became submerged, according to the FHP.
The Silverado came to a final rest submerged approximately 10 feet fro the shoreline facing west, according to the FHP.
Cooper was pronounced dead on scene.
