G.S. “Scotty” Byrne Jr.

Mr. G. S. “Scotty” Byrne Jr., 92, of Evergreen Avenue Brewton, passed away Sun., Nov. 18, 2018 at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Atmore, and a lifelong resident of Brewton. Mr. Byrne was of the Methodist Faith and he was the retired sheriff from Escambia County having served from January 1959 until January 1983.
He is survived by two sons, Chip (fiancee Judy Fralish) and Brad (Ann) Byrne of Brewton; five grandchildren, Beth (Chris) Crutchfield, Scott (Melody) Byrne, Patrick (Allie) Byrne, Bradley (Donielle) Byrne, Erin (Chris) Good; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Bradley Byrne and a sister, Arabelle Jernigan.
Visitation will be held Fri., Nov. 23, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
Graveside Services are scheduled for Fri., Nov. 23, 2018 at 11 a.m., at Union Cemetery if weather is permitting if not it will be at Williams Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Bobby Ellisor officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
