Michael Leonardo Deere, affectionately known as “Mike”, was born on Apr. 16, 1964 in Brewton, Ala. to Mattie Deere. Michael was introduced to Christ at a very early age by his mother.
Michael went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 12, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Bell Deere; and uncle, Leroy Deere Jr.
Mr. Deere was employed with Roselle Sanitation Department for more than 20 years before encountering a career ending injury, forcing him to take a medical retirement. He later located to Kissimmee, Fla.
He loved family and life. There was nothing that he would not do if it meant that he could help someone. He loved to laugh and to make other around him laugh. He enjoyed watching sports. His favorite song throughout life was ‘Jesus Loves the Little Children’.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted mother, Mattie Deere of Newark, N.J.; a brother, Eric (Lizetle) Deere Sr. of Kissimmee, Fla.; aunts, Mary (Clifford) Watson, Barbara Deere of Brewton, Rozell Deere of Montgomery, Vanessa Buckner of Columbus, Ga.; an uncle, Thomas (Butch) Deere of Montgomery; three nephews, Eric Deere Jr., Daniel Deere, Jamar Deere; three nieces, Erica Deere, Takiyia Deere, Neiliana Deere; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
Services were held on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Brewton with the Rev. Leonard Carpenter III and Pastor Robert Watson officiating.
Interment took place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Brewton with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
