A youth rally is coming to Brewton April 13.
The event is organized by Women to Women of Brewton.
Member Lashawnda Watson said the youth rally had been talked about for a while, but the shooting and death of one friend’s son by another’s son they knew it was time.
“It’s time to take our kids back from these streets,” she said. “We need to have more positive things to do besides kickbacks.”
Watson said there will be a motivational program for youth from Flat Lines.
“They do gospel rap, and all types of motivational speaking across the country,” she said.
Then, they will have King James Jr., who does mime storytelling.
“He was just with Kirk Jay last week,” she said.
Sheriff Heath Jackson will have some guys from the county jail and prison speak to the youth as well, she said.
Brewton Fire Department will sponsor food as well.
Plans are to take the rally from city to city, including Evergreen, Atmore and Monroeville.
The event will be held at sportsman’s park from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
After the event, there will be an Easter egg hunt for small children.
