Turner recognized at UWA

The University of West Alabama recently recognized outstanding students for their academic achievements and leadership roles at the institution’s annual Honors Day.

During the ceremony, 19 honor society chapters on campus recognized their new and previously-inducted members. Colleges and divisions presented nearly 50 awards for special recognition and scholarship to students in their respective fields of study. In addition, the University Scholars Program recognized an outstanding scholar in each undergraduate degree program, with the recipient having been selected by faculty in the discipline based on academic performance and participation in related activities.

Brandy Turner of Brewton, a junior at the University of West Alabama, was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi national honor societies. The daughter of Tonya Turner, she is an elementary education major. She is also a member of Cardinal Key and Lambda Sigma honor societies, is treasurer of Active Minds and secretary of UWA Baseball’s Diamond Dolls.
