There are few people in the world today who make it their mission to be a source of inspiration. The chances are even slimmer when it comes to a city or even a school in the heart of Brewton. Andrew “Zeke” Johnson is an inspiration to many in the T.R. Miller High School community. Johnson was a football manager for TRM from 1968 to 1994. The TRM community has a history of honoring his service to the football team. In 2004, Johnson was honored for his 30 years of service and dedication to TRM and then again in 2014 to celebrate his 40th season with TRM. Even today, Johnson manages to show his support by attending sporting events or fundraisers such as the TRM annual golf tournament. Johnson is adored so much by the community that he is referred to as the “biggest tiger fan around.”
In honor of his birthday on Sunday, the TRM Facebook page asked their followers to share their favorite memories about Johnson. Many people wished Johnson a happy birthday.
Robin Hatfield commented that her favorite memory of Johnson was the day she witnessed him throw a rock around a tree. Connie Baggett said her favorite memory is all of the inspirational speeches Johnson gave during pep rallies throughout the years.
“You’ve been a part of TRM for many years,” Virgie Bullard Grace commented on the Facebook post. “You have touched our lives. Andrew “Zeke” Johnson, you are TRM!”
