According to the Alabama Board of Nursing, Coastal Alabama Community College’s three campuses ranked in the top five nursing programs in the state for 2018. The ranking was based on the average students’ National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) exam performance at colleges and universities all over the state. The NCLEX exam determined if it’s safe for the student to begin practice as an entry-level nurse.
Coastal Alabama Community College Public Information Officer Sara Davis said that when you average the NCLEX exam scores at the Fairhope, Monroeville and Brewton campuses, CACC is second in the state. Davis said that Monroeville and Fairhope campuses have a 100 percent passing rate on the NCLEX exam. Brewton has a 92.8 percent passing rate. Davis said the state average NCLEX exam score is 90 percent.
“We are so proud of all of the nursing students from across all three campuses,” Davis said. “They work very hard.”
The Director of Nursing for the three campuses Joy Harrison said she is very excited about the students’ exam scores.
“I would like for people to know that they don’t have to send their children to 4-year universities for great nursing programs because all of the top five nursing programs were 2-year colleges,” Harrison said.
According to the Alabama Board of Nursing, the Top 5 Nursing Programs in the state are the following:
- Lawson State Community College
- Coastal Alabama Community College
- Snead State Community College
- Calhoun Community College
- Wallace State Community College
