Mrs. Shirley Ann Bowers Croft, 82, of Old Hwy. 31 Brewton, Ala. passed away Wed., Jan. 8, 2020, in Orlando, Fla. She was a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., a former resident of Fernandina Beach, Fla. before moving to Brewton in 1958. Mrs. Croft was a former member of the East Brewton First United Methodist Church. She was a former employee of the Bank of Brewton and The Carriage House before graduating from Troy State with a teaching degree and then taught at North Brewton Elementary School for two years. She then earned an LPN degree and retired as a LPN from Jay Hospital.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Larry Croft; a companion, Lawrence Red Nelson; a daughter, Karen Croft Tipton.
She is survived by her son, Lance (Anna) Croft of Oviedo, Florida; her daughter, Laurie (Don) Croft Martin of Hot Springs, Ark.; two brothers, David Bowers of Orlando, Fla. and James Bowers of St. Augustine, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Dr. Benjamin Martin, Maggie Martin, Thomas Martin, Caroline Tipton, Catherine Tipton, Jacob Croft, Peyton Croft; one great grandchild, Gabrielle Martin.
A time of visitation was held Sun., Jan. 12, 2020, from 1PM until 1:45PM at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton, Alabama.
Graveside Services were scheduled for Sun., Jan. 12, 2020, at 2 P.M. at the Green Acres Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating.
Interment followed in Green Acres Cemetery Brewton, Alabama with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
