Mrs. Mary Lou Jernigan, 85, passed away Sat., Jan. 18, 2020, in a Brewton nursing facility.
Mrs. Jernigan was born in Conecuh County, Ala. and had been a life-long resident of the Brewton area. She was a member of the Flomaton High School Class of 1952, and had worked as a switchboard operator at a bank. Church was her life. She loved her family, enjoyed making cakes and was an exceptional seamstress. She was a member of Brewton Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mrs. Jernigan was preceded in death by a son-in-law, William Michael Hicks; her parents, Harvey Baggett, Sr. and Ellie Baggett; brothers, Claude Baggett, Junior Baggett, Harold Baggett, Clifford Baggett, Ernest Baggett, Billy Baggett, Bobby Baggett; and a sister, Dorothy Smith.
She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Hicks of North Port, Ala., Cindy (Jerrel) Madden of Brewton, and Linda (Lamar) Hodge of Brewton; one brother, Brannon (Sarah) Baggett of Canoe, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Baggett of Perdido, Ala. and Beatrice Baggett of Brewton; seven grandchildren, Ryan Hicks, Shane Madden, Matthew (Stephanie) Hicks, Daniel (Ashley) Hodge, Jake Hodge, Tim (Roxy) Hodge, Aaron (Angie) Hodge; six great-grandchildren, Hayeslee Hodge, Jackson Madden, Will Hicks, Mason Hodge, Henry Hicks, Dakota Hodge.
A time of visitation was held at the Brewton Pentecostal Holiness Church on Wed., Jan. 22, 2020, from 10AM until service time at 11AM.
Funeral services were scheduled at the Brewton Pentecostal Holiness Church on Wed. Jan. 22, 2020, at 11AM with Bro. David Baggett and Bro. Byrnes Pitts officiating.
Interment followed in Cedar Creek Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
Pallbearers: Ryan Hicks, Shane Madden, Matt Hicks, Daniel Hodge, Jake Hodge, and Tim Hodge.
