Last week, a severe thunderstorm impacted the area Wed. morning. Following the severe thunderstorm last week, 1700 people were left without power in Brewton and the surrounding areas. Last Wed. Alabama Power crews restored power well into the night.

On Wed. afternoon Beth Thomas, public information representative for the Mobile division for Alabama Power reported that crews had been working all day, yet 1000 people still were without power.

Damage occurred on many streets throughout Brewton, particularly around Granberry St. from Belleville to Sowell and surrounding streets. By Thurs. all power was restored to the area.

In a statement released by Alabama Power, Thomas thanked everyone for his or her patience during the hours after the storm.
