Mr. Fred Beth Balkcom, 88, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Friday, May 1, 2020, at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Pensacola, Fla. and a former resident of Barrineau Park, Fla., before moving to Brewton in 1970. Mr. Balkcom was a member of the Brewton Pentecostal Church. He attended Tate High School in Pensacola, Fla., and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He later retired as a paper machine superintendent from Jefferson Smurfitt with 37 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Howington Balkcom of Brewton; two sons Michael (Dana) Rowell of Brewton and Marty (Hope) Balkcom of Troy, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Chrystal Jacobs, Beth Ann Rowell, Maggie Rowell, Logan Rowell, Cassidy Balkcom, Bethany Balkcom, Brady Balkcom; five great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son, Phillip Rowell; a granddaughter, Meagan Rowell.
Graveside Services were scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2020, at 1PM at Green Acres Cemetery with Rev. Byrnes Pitts officiating.
Interment followed in Green Acres Cemetery, Brewton, Ala., with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
Pallbearers were Carl “Shorty” Madden, Mark Madden, Ritchie Evans, Tommy Thompson, Brady Balkcom and Logan Rowell.
