FAIRHOPE, ALA.
Laura Jernigan Andrews, 90 of Fairhope, Ala. passed away suddenly at her home on May 17, 2020. Mrs. Andrews was born on February 15, 1930 in Brewton, Ala.
She is survived by her son, The Reverend James Milton Gibson (Beth) of Slidell, La.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Wilson (Jon) of Daphne, Ala., Milton (Marina) of Huntsville, Ala.; great grandchildren Cole and Jakob Wilson and Fenian Gibson.
Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Andrews; her parents, Reuben Milton and Annie Costen Jernigan: her first husband Ruel L. Gibson.
She served as the first Treasurer and business manager for Jefferson Davis Jr. College and later owned a women’s clothing store in Brewton, the Golden Rod prior to moving to Atlanta, Ga. She formally was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brewton.
A private graveside service was held on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at Union Cemetery. Final arrangements were handled by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Fairhope, Ala.
