The Escambia County Distinguished Young Women program will host a virtual presentation in the coming weeks. Utlizing the month of June, the program conducted a virtual competition among the seven participants. “The program ran the same way it would have if we had been able to have our traditional program.  Instead of the girls performing their talent, fitness and answering their self expression question they made a video recording of their response,” said Escambia County DWY Chairwoman Suzanne Barnett. “Each week, during the month of June, a different video was due. The recordings were sent to our judges for scoring,” she added.
On June 27, each young woman participated in a 10 minute interview via Zoom with a panel of judges. Once the judges completed the scores, all scoring for each category was sent to the judges chairman and tabulator. “We are waiting for the final compilation of all videos so that we will be able to share the hard work of each contestant with everyone.  Once the video is received, we will post the viewing date and will have a FaceBook live “show” and announce the new  Distinguished Young Woman of Escambia County,” said Barnett.
