Mr. Johnny Burian Carter, Sr., 79, of Brewton, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at his home.
Mr. Carter was born in Stone, Ken., and had been a resident of Brewton for 20 plus years coming from Pensacola in 1956 to Brewton. During his working years, he worked as a truck driver, and as a fisherman and boat captain for Joe Patti’s Seafood Company. He loved his family, fishing, shrimping and being out on the ocean is where he wanted to be. Mr. Carter was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his son, Johnny B. Carter, Jr.; brother, Gene Carter; sisters, Marylee Diamond and Madeline Helms; and the love of his life, Brenda Kay Steele.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Carter (Brian White) of Pensacola, Fla., Christy (Dewayne) Franklin of Brewton, Doreen Carter (Chris) of Cantonment, Fla.; grandchildren, Tyler, Tierra, Micheal, Hunter, Hana, Gracie, Haleigh, Alexus, Briana, Savanna, C.J.; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh and Micheal; a very special caregiver, Debra Franklin; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Craver’s Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Craver’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sonny Steele officiating. Interment followed in Pineview Cemetery, Brewton.
Pallbearers were Mr. Carter’s grandsons and nephews, C.J., Tyler, Hunter, Michael, P.J. Howards, and Will Howard. Honorary pallbearers were his granddaughters, Hana, Tierra, and Alexus.
Craver’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
