Pastor Charles L. Clayton, 82, of Eby Street in East Brewton, peacefully left this earthly dwelling for his permanent home with Jesus on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
He was a native and life-long resident of Brewton. Pastor Clayton was a 1957 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, He was market manager at Piggly Wiggly, co-owner of C & H Grocery and pastor of the Liberty Church and New Life Church for over 30 years. Charles was a talented carpenter to all who knew him and was a mild mannered servant of Christ who walked humbly and obediently with his Lord.
He is survived by a daughter, Becky Booker; a son, Chris (Tina) Clayton; a sister, Opal Emmons; grandchildren, Clayton (Mallory) Booker, Kate Booker, Kelsey (Murray) Hamstreet, Natalie (Dylon) Ehrilch, William Brantley, Chad Baggett, Laurel (Greg) Shipp; great-grandchildren, Bella Payne, Gabby Payne, Alex Brackin, Ava Shipp, Hayden Shipp.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Lena Singleton Clayton; his wife, Reba Blair Clayton; son, Jeff Clayton; two brothers, Harvey Clayton Jr., and Kenneth Clayton; and one sister, Ray Clayton Brown.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 5, 20201 at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Collins officiating. Interment followed in Weaver Cemetery in Brewton.
Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
