Mr. Gary Thomas Darby, 70, of Brewton, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Darby was born in Conecuh County, but had been a lifelong member of the Brewton community. He was a member of the U. S. Army where he earned the National Defense Serve Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; three Bronze Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Army Commendation Medal, and Expert Rifle and Grenade. During his working years, he worked at Container as a supervisor. He enjoyed golfing, Alabama Football, gun collecting and was a member of the NRA.
He is survived by his son, Greg Darby of Brewton; brothers, Bobby (Sue) Darby of Cussetta, and Jerry (Tammy) Darby of L Pond; sister, Phyllis (Ronald ) Smith of Castleberry; and grandson, Joshua Grayson Darby.
Mr. Darby was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Cupidine Whitehead Darby; brothers, Kenneth Darby and Dennis Darby, and sister Sheila Nelson.
Graveside services were held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Union Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Tommy Quick officiating.
Craver’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
