Mr. James Franklin Dewberry, Jr., 71, of Biloxi, Miss., passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, in the Biloxi Veterans’ Hospital.

He was a native of Sylacauga, and a long-time resident of Brewton, before moving to Gulfport, Miss. Mr. Dewberry attended W.S. Neal High School before serving in Vietnam as an Army Medic. Mr. Dewberry was a medic attached to a Green Beret unit. He earned several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Marksman-Rifle, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ device, and Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star. His family is very proud of his service to our country. After Vietnam, Mr. Dewberry was a brick mason in both Brewton and later in Gulfport. While living in Gulfport, he was a member of O’Neil Road Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Evans Dewberry of Milton, Fla., two daughters, Angela Dewberry (Corky) Kratt of The Woodlands, Tex., and Wendy Dewberry (Jon) Davidson of Brewton; one brother, Donald Dewberry of Miss.; and two sisters, Judy Gentle of Washington State and Marilyn Stickels of Nebraska; six grandchildren, J.J. Davidson, Kevin Kratt, Jenny Lynn Davidson, Kyle Kratt, Erin Davidson, and Cooper Davidson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Frank” Dewberry, Sr. and Bess Hughes Dewberry; his step-mother, Dot Dewberry and two brothers, Ricky Odom, and Tony Peters.

Graveside services were held Saturday, December 12 at 11:00 a.m. at May Creek Cemetery.

Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
