Mr. Marty Jackson Merritt, 51, of Douglas Avenue in Brewton, passed away Friday February 5, 2021 at his Brewton residence.

Mr. Merritt was a native and lifelong resident of Brewton and worked as a supervisor at Grede in Brewton.  He loved fishing, hunting, being outdoors and was a Alabama Crimson Tide fan.  He was of the Christian faith and a 1988 graduate of W.S. Neal High School.

He is survived by his father, Marvin Merritt of Glencoe; mother, Betty Golden of Brantley;  two daughters, Jessica Lister of Foley,  Kristy (Calvin) Kiser of Brewton; brother; Mark (Anna) Merritt of Mount Jackson, Va.; sister, Elizabeth (Bill) Rose of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Michael McCreary, Calvin Kiser; numerous other family members and friends.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hopewell Cemetery with Brother Michael Cosey officiating.

Pallbearers were Mark Merritt, John Nelson, Rodney Gibson, Ronald Gibson, Kenny Ward, and Stevie Powell.

Craver’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
