The City of Brewton is entering into a new venture — swimming.

The pool located at Dogwood Hills Park will open for public use on Wednesday, June 2 with a ribbon cutting at noon.

Mayor Yank Lovelace said this week that the city’s operation of a pool for the public will be a learning experience.

“This is the first time in a number of years that we’ve had a public pool,” Lovelace said. “We will be learning as the season goes and will be changing and expanding as we see how the pool can be used.”

Currently, hours for pool operation will be Monday through Saturday from Noon to 5 p.m.

“The pool will be open from noon to 1 p.m. each day for ‘adult only’ swimming,” Lovelace said. “The pool will be open to the public from 1 to 5 p.m.”

Cost for swimming at the pool will be $2 for adults and $1 for children.

The pool will not be open on Sundays.
