A group of ministers from around the Brewton and East Brewton communities lead dozens of citizens in prayer Thursday during the Naitonal Day of Prayer event held on the front lawn of the Escambia County Courthouse.
Through a series of prayers, ministers lead those on hand for the annual event in prayers for military, families, churches, business, education, government and the media in our community and across the country.
Those leading in prayer were reverends Cavin Cawthon, Russell Clausell Jr., Blake Mohling, Tommy Quick, Parker Johnson, Bobby Ellisor, Larry Patterson, Todd Ray, Jeff Edwards and Macon Phillips. Ray lead the group in songs including My Country ‘Tis of Thee and God Bless America.
The 2022 National Day of Prayer marked the 70th anniversary of gathering for prayer. The day, held on the first Thursday of May each year, is set aside to call citizens together as a nation to offer prayers for various aspects and areas of daily life. The theme for the 2022 event was “Exalt the Lord who has established us,” from Colossians 2:6-7.
