Mary Anne Pouncey, 73, of East Brewton,  passed from this life on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at her home.

Ms. Pouncey was born in Troy. She worked in education 40 years from 1973 until May 2013 when she retired as a media specialist at W. S. Neal High School in East Brewton. She enjoyed working with her students and helping them to realize their dreams can come true. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie M. Pouncey and Agnes Grissette Pouncey; and her brother, William (Bill) Gene Boone.

Survivors include one sister, Margaret E. Pouncey, Montgomery; sister-in-law, Linda Jordan Boone, Raleigh, N.C.; two nephews, William (Gene) Boone, Tampa, Fla., and J. Darryl Boone, Greensboro, N.C.; great-nephew, William L. Boone, Greensboro, N.C.; two “adopted’ sisters, Melissa Heflin, Gautier, Miss., and Brenda Domingus, Montgomery; numerous cousins; devoted friends, Cassandra Culliver, Edward Woods, and Alice Woods.

Pallbearers included Jack Boothe, Butch Grissette, Joe O’Neal, Craig Pouncey, Clarence Pouncey, Wes Pouncey, and honorary pall bearer was Edward Woods.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022 from Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery at 10 am. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. . Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery behind Leak Memory. Bill Robinson, evangelist, with Perry Hill Road Church of Christ, will perform the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
