Plans are being finalized for the annual Cold Moon Festival set for Oct. 29 at Dogwood Hills Park.
A Brewton-sponsored event, the musical celebration has become a favorite for music-lovers around the area.
Connie Baggett, Director of Program Management for the City of Brewton, said the event got its start several years ago and has grown in popularity over time.
“Cold Moon started several years ago as a way to honor author and screenplay writer Michael McDowell, as a nod to his horror genre writing,” Baggett said. “We had a Haunted Trail, which is back again this year, that themed along with one of his books set in our part of the world–we sometimes used scary stories like how Murder Creek got its name, or the tale of Railroad Bill.”
That first event also featured toe-tapping music from musicians with a local bond.
“We had a concert with our own Grayson Capps and his band mates with Will Kimbrough and others,” Baggett said of that first event. “It has grown every year and is something we’d like to grow into a multi-day event eventually. People can look forward to a family-fun evening and a night that has music and fire dancers and lots of fun.”
Performers will include Paige King Johnson, The Krickets, Ross Newell, Will Kimbrough and Grayson Capps. There is no admission charge.
