If increasing your time with the arts is on your New Year’s resolution list, this Thursday night will be your first opportunity to check that box.
The Brewton Council of the Arts will kick off their 2023 show season with a musical salute to Motown.
The show will hit the stage at Coastal Alabama Community College at the Woodfin Patterson Auditorium with a 7 p.m. curtain time.
“Shadows of the 60s — A Tribute to Motown: is the first of four performances scheduled in the coming months.
According to information from BCA officials, the first show should provide a pleasant visit to music of the past.
“Shadows of the 60’s pays tribute to Motown stars such as The Supremes, The Four Tops, Temptations and Smokey Robinson and The Miracles,” officials said in a release. “The visual production features top industry musicians and singers dressed in designed costumes and choreography.
“Shadows of the 60’s present the music of Motown with intensity of the original recorded performances that will allow the audience to see and feel the raw ‘front row’ experience of attending a live Motown concert, circa 1964.
“The performance will be capped off with a grand finale featuring the music of The Marvelettes, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Junior Walker and the Allstars, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Contours and more.”
The 2023 performance series will also include the Missoula Children’s Theater’s performance of King Arthur’s Quest on Jan. 21; Chi-Town – A Chicago Concert Experience on Feb. 13; and Sail On – A Beach Boys Tribute on April 11.
