Atmore PD arrest Brewton women on theft charges

A Brewton woman remains behind bars as of press time Tuesday as a result of an arrest last week in Atmore.
Rebecca Boutwell, 39, was arrested Jan. 24 on warrants and receiving stolen property, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Boutwell of Brewton, was arrested on the warrants and received a new charge of receiving stolen property I.
“She had several warrants for her arrest with the Atmore Police Department” McMann said in the release.
McMann said the arrest was made at approximately 1:25 p.m. on Jan. 24, after Atmore Police Department officer observed a vehicle backed into the tree line along North Main Street near the intersection of Howard Street.
“The officer contacted the female in the driver seat, later identified as Rebecca Boutwell,” McMann said. “Upon further investigation, the officer discovered Boutwell had several warrants for her arrest with the Atmore Police Department.”
McMann said while inspecting the vehicle Boutwell was driving, the officers discovered the vehicle had been reported as stolen.
Boutwell was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton where she awaits a bond hearing in the case.
The most recent arrest adds to the charges Boutwell has faced over a period of several years. She was previously arrest in October 2022 and faced charges of assault with bodily fluids, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Her arrest records also indicate several arrests for possession of controlled substances.
