Mr. Bernard Duke Evans, age 96, of Lott Road in Wilmer, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 at his residence after a brief illness.
He was a native and long time resident of Escambia County before moving to Mobile. Mr. Evans attended Ridge Road Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII, a Mason of the Norris Lodge 301, a member of the American Legion, and was a retired oxygen tech from NAS.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda (MG, Jr.) Brunson of Wilmer; a sister, Annie Merle Hullett of Jay, Fla.; one grandson, Paxton (Debbie) Brunson; three great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Kerigan and Payton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Evans Haveard; seven brothers and two sisters.
Vistation will be held Saturday afternoon, February 4, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, February 4, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton with the Rev. Bernie Raines officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Crawford Cemetery in East Brewton.
Pallbearers will be Morris Crawford, Benjamin Moore, Brody Lampie, Ean Morgan, Joseph Haveard, Sam Lisenby and Broox Hart.
Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
