Senior citizens in the community have an opportunity to receive a food basket for Easter thanks to Anna Bell’s Attic Ministries, Inc., located in East Brewton.
Although the Easter basket will be available for just this week with limited availability, the ministry continues it’s mission of service to the community all year round.
Founder Hermistine Lancaster said the initial beginning of Anna Bell’s Attic was conceived in 2017 but didn’t come to fruition until January 23, 2021.
“The organization is in honor of my maternal grandmother, Anna Bell Quarker of Freemanville,” Lancaster said. “Shewas known in the Freemanville community to help others along the way. She was a faithful wife and mother of 11 children and was just two months shy of 100 years old in her passing.”
The East Brewton-based organization continues the community service as a way to continue the work of Anna Bell.
“We strive to exemplify Anna Bell’s spirit of giving,” Lancaster said. “It is a joy and pleasure for our organization to serve the community. Our Mission statement is to serve the Community in a dualistic approach (spiritual and natural).”
The organization is an outreach ministry that gives to those who have hardship or in need. There is a limited Food Pantry on the premises as well.
Anna Bell’s Attic Ministry, Inc., serves the community with projects such as giving Sack Lunches to a homeless soup kitchen in Pensacola, Fa., and a children’s home in Jay, Fla.
The senior citizens of the local area have benefit by receiving fruit baskets, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day gift baskets, Valentine’s Day gift baskets and stocking stuffers for Christmas. The Children of the Community have received coats and toys for Christmas.
Each year, ABAMINC sponsors a children’s shopping event at Walmart during the Christmas season.
Providing continued support to those in need around the community, the ministry has recently added a new service to their growing list of projects. Senior citizens who need assistance with house cleaning can now reach out to the ministry for help.
“Our grganization is God and Christ centered,” Lancaster said. “It is operated by God’s wisdom. So far, we have been running like a well oiled machine! We have been blessed to be a blessing! We have been graced with a great staff and just in that it is a blessing!”
In the near future, ABAMINC hopes to establish a Community Resource Center in East Brewton. The facility will provide the Outreach Closet and Food Pantry on a larger scale and the citizens will benefit from resources.
