The T.R. Miller High School baseball team had accepted the fact that they wouldn’t be going to the playoffs this season. But on Monday, the team got a pleasant surprise.
In a twist of events, the team moved up in the rankings to make the playoffs.
Prior to Monday’s news, Satsuma was dubbed Area Champs with Jackson runner up. But through some changes, the local Tiger Baseball team now finds themselves in the playoffs.
The TRM Tigers were dubbed 4A Area 2 Champs with the news breaking on Monday morning this week. That announcement put the Tigers solidly in the playoff season in the coming weeks.
Playoff games will begin Friday, April 21 with the Tigers hosting West Blocton in a double header. The first game will begin at 4 p.m. with the second game immediately following. If a third game is needed, that game will be held Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
Tickets for all games must be purchased on gofan.co. No tickets will be sold at the gate.
On Monday evening, the Tigers held their annual Senior Nigh recognition between games against Opp. Seniors include Adam White, Jim Daugherty, Sam Kelley, Jackson Sullivan, Bracken Pettis, Landan Barrentine, Broox Hart and Cole Kelley.
The seniors, along with the rest of the Tiger team, have racked up a 9-3 overall record this season and are 4-1 in region play (not counting the Monday games against Opp). The team is 3-2 at home and 6-1 in away games on the season with a four-game winning streak on record.
