The American Legion Post 79 is finalizing plans for an annual celebration to commemorate soldiers from Escambia County who have died.
The annual ceremony is set for Monday, May 29 — Memorial Day — beginning at 9 a.m.
The site for the commorative celebration will be the front lawn of the Escambia County Courthouse on Belleville Avenue. A series of displays will surround the Veterans Memorial in the courtyard. For those wishing to bring memorabilia in honor of their loved ones, please arrive early to the ceremony for placement.
Col. Charles Jackson will conduct the roll call and provide comments for the ceremony.
Seating will be available for those in attendance.
The annual event has been conducted under the sponsorship of the American Legion Post 79 in Brewton for many years.
Commander Joe Dozier invites the public to attend the ceremonies as the lives of community soldiers are honored.
