Area schools plan open house events ahead of school opening next week

All Brewton City School students will be heading to class on Monday, Aug. 7. Teachers returned to school on Aug. 2.
Escambia County Schools students, including W.S. Neal Schools, will begin classes on Wednesday, Aug. 9. Teachers are already back in the classrooms preparing for the year.
Both systems will have their first holiday of the 2023-24 school year on Monday, Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.
Brewton Elementary students will have an opportunity to “meet the teacher” on Thursday beginning with kindergarten and multi-needs students at 8 a.m. First graders will meet teachers beginning at 9 a.m. and will be followed by second graders at 10 a.m.; third graders at 11 a.m.; and fourth graders at 1 p.m. Pre-K student sessions will be drop-in between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
At Brewton Middle School new student/fifth grade orientation will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the school gym. Schedules pick-up will also be available for sixth through eighth grade students on Thursday in the school office.
W.S. Neal Elementary School will host open house Friday, from 1 to 4 p.m.
W.S. Neal Middle School will hold open house on Friday, Aug. 4 as well. Students will receive information during assemblies in the school cafeteria at the following times: 5th grade – 1 to 1:30 p.m.; 6th grade – 1:45 to 2:15 p.m.; 7th grade – 2:30 to 3 p.m.; and 8th grade from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. Students will be able to pick up schedules, drop off supplies and pay any dues for classes and lockers.
At W.S. Neal High School, open house will be held Aug. 3.
