The internet is full of prom photos where the best decisions for attire weren’t made by participants. This year, those decisions will be honored with a special fundraising event for the T.R. Miller High School Junior/Senior prom later this school year.
Although participants are required to dress up for the event, the 5K event offer a chance for fun and community spirit.
Leigh Jordan Kelley, a parent chair for the event, said the students will be leading the event.
“I want the students to be successful in this event,” Kelly said. “We’re hoping to have some fun as well. Participants are encouraged to dress up (but its not required!) in their craziest prom attire. We will crown a King and Queen for best costume before the race.
The race will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday morning at T.R. Miller High School on Douglas Avenue. Online registration is available at eventbrite.com Registration ends at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
The Bad Prom 5K is a scenic course that will take participants through the beautiful streets of Brewton. Runners will enjoy the challenge of the 5K distance, while walkers can take their time and enjoy the company of friends and family.
If you prefer a shorter distance, the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk is available. This is a great option for families and those who want to participate at a more leisurely pace.
One male and one female runner will be crowned Prom King and Prom Queen and will receive a crown and sash for the day.
For those who are unable to participate in the event, a donation option is also available online at Eventbrite’s registration page. Or donations can be made at the school designated for prom fundraising.
