The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is working to uncover the motive behind a shooting on Jack Springs Road Monday, Oct. 9.
According to Escambia County Sheriff Heath Jackson deputies with the department responded to a report of “shots fired” around 7 p.m. Monday night. Atmore Police also responded to the call in the 7400 block of Jack Springs Road.
“Upon arrival, two male subjects were located that were both suffering from gunshot wounds,” Jackson said Tuesday. “Both men were provided life saving measures and later airlifted to nearby trauma centers. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the men had attempted to rob 2 other men at gunpoint. One of the victims was armed and after being threatened with a weapon, discharged his weapon at both suspects.”
Jackson said the condition of those found wounded in the incident was not available Tuesday and stated that the case remains under investigation.
