In a significant move to enhance the vital service of meal delivery to senior citizens, the Escambia County Commission is proud to announce the acquisition of five brand-new Ford Escape cars.
These vehicles, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, mark a crucial step in ensuring that the county’s elderly population receives nutritious meals promptly.
The Escambia County Senior Centers currently deliver an impressive 695 meals per week, averaging 139 meals each day through the Escambia County Area Agency on Aging organization.
This essential service is made possible by a dedicated team of five drivers: Virginia Overstreet, Tiffany Smith, Sandra Nall, Nancy Barton, Cheryl Newburn and Amy Hicks.
Their commitment to the well-being of senior citizens in East Brewton, Brewton, Flomaton, Wolf Log, Friendship, Atmore, Huxford, Little Rock, and McCullough communities is truly commendable.
The decision to invest in these new vehicles demonstrates the county’s commitment to improving the efficiency and reliability of meal delivery services.
