The Appleton Volunteer Fire Department will once again play host to the community Christmas Parade on Saturday, but organizers are watching the weather forecast for the day.
“I believe this will be our 23rd year doing the parade,” said Assistant Fire Chief Alex Singleton. “It was started by our late Fire Chief Michael Tyler.”
Those participating in the parade are asked to be at the #1 Fire Station (3458 Mason Mill Pond Road) by 10 a.m.
Singleton said there is parking on-site for trucks and trailers for unloading. Overflow parking, if needed, will be at the old fire station next door.
“We will have our firefighters provide waivers that morning for drivers and anyone riding in the parade,” Singleton said “We will hold a short meeting around 10:50 a.m. where driver’s licenses will be checked and we will go ver the basic rules.”
Singleton said the route for the parade will start at Station #1 and make a huge loope down Appleton Road. Then, the parade will turn onto McGougin Road and back to Mason Mill Pond Road and return to the starting point at the fire station.
Singleton said firetrucks will be available for photos with children following the parade.
Please be aware that the parade may be cancelled or postponed due to inclement weather that may pose a safety issue for those participating and for spectators.
