The local population grew on New Year’s Day with the birth of the area’s newest citizen.
Amir Jamar Jackson was born at 8:51 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024. The infant weighed 8 pounds 10 ounches and was 20 inches long.
He is the son of Isha Thompson and Arkeem Jackson. He is the brother of A’Jada, Jakylin, Arlyia, Jlani and Arkeem Jr.
Marking the first birth of the year at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital, the infant is the grandson of Lawanda Odom, Walter James Nearer Jr., Tanya Jackson and Walter Gasden.
