Shots fired on Sowell Road bring out first responders

Paramedics and fire were called to a scene at the corner of Sowell Road and Crosby Street just after 3 p.m. on Monday after shots were fired in the area.
The incident is believed to have been an officer-involved shooting but that information has not been confirmed by authorities.
Brewton Police were on scene as well as responding units from Brewton Fire Department and D.W. McMillan Ambulance Service.
An area located in a vacant lot at the corner of the intersection was marked with police tape as officers scoured the scene for evidence connected to the incident.
Brewton Police have not released any details regarding the circumstances that lead to at least one person being shot. The unidentified victim was transported by ambulance to the heli-pad at D.W. McMillan Hospital for transport by air ambulance. There have been no details released on the condition of the victim.
