With work crews busy cleaning and preparing for Saturday’s big day, Brewton is wonderfully ready for the annual Alabama Blueberry Festival.
The event, hosted by the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce, will be filled with plenty of fun, shopping, entertainment and, of course, blueberries.
The Chamber has commissioned workers who will be working through the night preparing plenty of blueberry cobbler, blueberry crunch that will be available on Festival day.
The coveted cartons of blueberry ice cream will be delivered on Friday for distribution. For those who pre-ordered half-gallons of the specially-prepared treat, distribution will be held at Jennings Park on Friday evening beginning at 5 p.m. The remaining ice cream will be available — while supplies last — on festival day.
Shirts for the event are also on sale through the Chamber offices until the close of business today (Wednesday). Shirts will be available at the Chamber trailer at the Festival.
Area merchants are also getting in on the action by offering special services, products and even a brunch menu to help make the day special for those attending the annual event.
And for those who can’t wait until Saturday, a street dance and party will be held at Market Park in downtown Brewton on Friday night beginning at 7 p.m. with Tobacco Road performing free of charge.
There is no admission charge to the Festival grounds.
