Fountain honored by Brewton mayor, council

Meg Fountain was honored on Monday during the regular meeting of the Brewton City Council.
Mayor Yank Lovelace presented a proclamation to the rising senior recognizing her work as a student athlete.
According to proclamation points, Fountain ended her junior year at T.R. Miller High School as an All State second team nominee for basketball and softball.
During the previous year, Fountain recorded a remarkable .516/566/1.214 stat at the plate with 77 RBIs and 24 homeruns. That success found her ranked as the Number 3 athlete in the United States for her overall homerun record.
Fountain has also been voted the 2024 Alabama Female Athlete of the Year by ITG next, an online media outlet.
Fountain was accompanied by her family and teammates for the public recognition.
In other business n Monday, the council:
• approved a liquor license request for Camp 31 BBQ and Grill following a public hearing held prior to the beginning of the regular meeting agenda items;
• approved the purchase of radios for the City of Brewton Police Department;
•approved the extension of service agreement with Florida Gas Transmission Company.
