A new opportunity to shine on stage is approaching as the Railway Arts Guild prepares for their next production.
“You Can’t Take It With You” is the next planned presentation of the group with auditions on Aug. 11 in Atmore beginning at 2 p.m.
Simple line reading from the script for all parts will be the audition. Parts are available for all ages from late teen and up. Roles are available for all races and genders.
Railway is a fully open audition organization allowing all levels of skill and experience a chance to be on stage.
The group has set tentative performance dates for the show for late September/early October. Rehearsals are scheduled for Monday, Thursday and Saturday nights at 6 p.m., however times are subject to change based on cast availability.
The play is a Pulitzer Prize winning comedy written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman. The a hilarious story of familial foibles and raucous relatives as the eccentric and fun-loving Vanderhof-Sycamore-Carmichael clan play host to the straight-laced Kirby family. A simple dinner plan devolves from hijinks to full-blown disaster as unlucky lovebirds Alice and Tony struggle to keep their relationship (and their families) from collapsing.

The upcoming production is coming on the heels of a cross-county performance by the group with “Little Women.” The cast and crew presented shows in Brewton and Atmore — a first for the organization.
