Escambia County Schools students returned to the classroom for the first day of the 2024-25 school year on Tuesday.
Today, Wednesday, Brewton City School students will enter the school halls to begin the new year.
On Tuesday, W.S. Neal High School Principal Todd Williamson addressed the students as the first bell of the year rang to provide details on a few changes for the new year.
“Homeroom and first period classes will be in the same room this year,” Williamson told the students.
Williamson said the faculty and staff at the school are all ready for the year to begin.
“We’ve been preparing for several days,” Williamson said. “It doesn’t seem like it’s supposed to be time for school to start, but we’re ready and it’s going to be a good year.”
Students in both systems will be in class until their first holiday of the year on Sept. 2 to observe Labor Day. Upcoming holidays during the first semester of the year will come on Nov. 11 for Veterans’ Day; Nov. 25-29 for Thanksgiving Holidays and Dec. 23 through Jan. 3, 2025 for Christmas Holidays.
Both systems have set May 22, 2025 as the last day of school.
