UPDATE: Two escapees were taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon following a Monday night escape.
A Monday night escape has kept officers with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office busy.
Just after 8 p.m., two inmates managed to escape from the Escambia County Detention Center at the intersection of Court Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Brewton.
According to Escambia County Sheriff Heath Jackson, the escapees were identified as Joseph Loper and Cameron Garner. Both were jailed on non-violent crimes.
“Please be on the lookout for these two inmates who eacaped from the detention center around 8:05 PM Monday night,” Jackson said. “They both should be wearing white clothing consistent with thermal underwear, white t-shirts, and are both barefoot.”
Loper, 21, was arrested Jan. 17 on charges of failure to appear.
Garner, 22, was arrested on June 27 on charges of burglary third and attempting to elude.
Jackson is asking the public to be on the lookout for the two escapees and to call his office is they are spotted.

As of press time Tuesday, the escapees had not been captured. No other details in the escape have been released.
