James ‘Jimmy Guy’ Glass
Brewton

Mr. James “Jimmy Guy” Glass, 77, of Nalty Road in Brewton, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital after a brief illness.
He was a native of Greenville and a long time resident of Brewton. Mr. Glass was a retired boilermaker.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ready Glass of Brewton; three sons, D.J. Glass, Michael Glass and Nicholas Glass; three daughters, Kimberly Glass, Cynthia Glass and Autumn Ready; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 16, 2024 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
Memorial services are planned for Friday, August 16, 2024 at 7 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton with Speaker Joe Cain Dozier officiating.
Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Edward Sanford, 82, departed at North Oklasoosa County Hospital in Florida on July 20, 2024.
He was born Aug. 25, 1941 in Brewton to James G. Sanford and Lillian Kendrick Sanford. He gave his life to Christ at Baptist Hill Church in Brewton at an early age. He served in various capacities at many churches where he lived throughout the country.
James graduated from Southern Normal School in Brewton. He was well-educated and won first place in many state science fairs. Following graduations, James attended Hope College in Holland, Mich. He then served his country for several years in the Air Force, While in the air force, he marrie3d his high school sweetheart, Minnie Segar, and they started their lives together in Minot, N.D. After serving his country, they moved to Detroit, Mich. James worked in Detroit during the day and attended college at night. He graduated with an engineering degree from Lawrence Institute of Technological University in Southfield, Mich. After graduation, James was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration for more than 30 years. He was highly respected, very professional and a compassionate manager. During his career, he and Minnie lived in several cities in the Eastern and Southern parts of the United States. Their last move with the FAA was to Memphis, Tenn., where he retired in 1997. Recently, they moved to Crestview, Fla. Minnie and James have been married for over 60 years. From this union they were blessed with a daughter, Jacqueline Denise Sanford; and a son, James Michael Sanford. James worked hard to ensure his wife and children were cared for and loved daily.
James was a man of many talentes and a captivating storyteller. His exceptional long-term memory allowed him to regale friends and family with his tales about growing up in Brewton and the Sanford’s family history. He was a rock to many, always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His engaging personality and impactful presence will be sorely missed and forever remembered.
James was preceded in death by his father, James G. Sanford; his mother, Lillian Kendrick Sanford; a brother, Major Henry Neal Sanford, USAF; and a sister, Mattie Joyce Sanford Stallworth.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Segar Sanford; daughter, Jacqueline Denise Sanford; son, James Michael Sanford (Shirley); granddaughter, Taylor Sanford; grandson, Corey Sanford; brothers, William L. Sanford and Charles G. Sanford (Billie); and many nephews, niees, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, other relatives and family friends.
A celebration of life service was held Monday, July 29, 2024 at Bergan Memorial Cemeter in Brewton.
Presley-Fluker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
