Finalists named for Brewton City Schools superintendent

In the search for the new superintendent for the Brewton City Board of Education, the names of the five finalists were revealed during a meeting of the group on Monday.
According to information released by the Alabama Association of School Boards, who is conducting the search, the five candidates vying for the position are:
George Brown III, of Perdido, who is currently an assistant superintendent for the Escambia County Board of Education;
Kyle R. Ferguson, of Northport, currently serving as the leadership coach with Southern Regional Education Board;
James Dennis Fuqua of Flomaton, currently serving as campus director at Coastal Alabama Community College;
Michael D. Turner, of Leeds, currently serving as principal of Pinson Valley High School; and Kevin Wieseman of Florence, currently serving as principal of Florence High School.
No specific date has been set to fill the position. Interviews for candidates are expected to begin Sept. 4.
