For residents living in rural areas of Escambia County, the most fun time of year is at hand.
Southern Pine Electric Cooperative will be hosting their annual membership meeting of on Saturday, Aug. 31 beginning at 8 a.m. in East Brewton.
Hosted on the campus of W.S. Neal High School, the school will serve as a hub of activity with several programs offered for children and adults.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a special gift to each registering member at the event. Registration will be in the main lobby entrance of the high school.
Entertainment will fill the morning with peformances by The Brandon Rowell Band from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with Gold City taking the stage from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Since 1980, gospel music fans worldwide have been in love with the trend-setting style of Gold City. From their inception, this quartet’s goal has been to use the musical gifts the Lord has given them in the best way they know how—to honor God, share the gospel message, witness to the lost and encourage the saved.
As Gold City moves into the future, it is clear this group is in good hands and good voices, as folks everywhere are discovering night after night. The hit songs, the outstanding vocals, and the class and professionalism that have always been still are, unmistakably, Gold City.
The youth program, designed specifically with children in mind, begins at 10 a.m. featuring of a variety of games, as well as popcorn, cotton candy, face painting and hot dogs and drinks for lunch.
Registration for the day will end at 12:50 p.m. just prior to the beginning of the business meeting.
For adults, prizes will also be available as the drawing gets underway following lunch when the business meeting convenes at 1 p.m. The 2024 grand prize is a 2015 Ford F150XLT 2WD truck. Members must be present to win.
Registration information was included in the August edition of the REA Magazine. Additional registration forms will be available on the morning of the event at the high school lobby.
