The T.R. Miller Tigers took that home-field advantage to heart Friday night at Brewton Municpal Stadium as they hosted the Straughn Tigers in a non-region game.
The Tigers would dominate all through the night giving Straughn just once good chance to score late in the game. That lone Straughn touch down would come with just under 9 minutes left to play in the game.
T.R. Miller would find themselves ahead by a 34-0 score at half time having dominated play throughout the half.
As the second half began, Straughn’s possessions would be short-lived with forced punts in the third quarter. They would keep the ball long enough to find the end zone late in the game for six points. A good kick gave them the only 7 points they would see in the night.
T.R. Miller would be able to put some younger players in the game in the second half of the game to help them gain some field time and important experience for the future.
As the clock wound down to end the game, TRM goes up to win the game by a 40-7 score.
The T.R. Miller Tigers will play host to Monroe County for their first region battle on Sept. 6 with a 7 p.m. kick off set for Brewton Municipal Stadium in Brewton.
