Interviews for superintendent begin Wednesday for Brewton City Schools

Interviews for candidates in the search for a superintendent for Brewton City Schools will be held in the coming days with the first day of interviews set for Wednesday.
Members of the Brewton City Board of Education will be conducting the interviews beginning with a 5 p.m. session with Michael Turner. Turner, a resident of Leeds, is currently serving as the principal at Pinson Valley High School. He has held similar positions at Leeds High and Middle Schools. He earned his Education Specialist degree from Jacksonville State University having received his Master’s degree in administration from the same institution. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science with certification in Social Studies from Miles College.
George Brown, a resident of Perdido, will be the subject of an interview beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Brown currently serves as an assistant superintendent with the Escambia County Schools system. He has served as principal at Flomaton High and Elementary Schools and an assistant principal at Spanish Fort High School. He received his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at the University of South Alabama. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in special education at the University of West Florida and an Associate’s Degree at Jefferson Davis Community College.
Interviews will continue on Monday, Sept. 9 beginning at 5 p.m. The first interview will be with Kevin Wieseman. Wieseman. a resident of Florence, currently serves as principal at Florence High School. He has served as principal at Florence Middle School and Lee High School and Director of Athletics and Extracurricular Activities with Huntsville City School. He is currently pursuing an EdD from Murray State University and expect to complete the program this year. He earned an Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of North Alabama and Master’s Degrees in Administration from the University of Alabama and Secondary Education: Biology from Alabama A&M University.
Dennis Fuqua of Flomaton will begin his interview session at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9. Fuqua currently serves as Campus Director for Coastal Alabama Community College. He has served as principal at Escambia County High School and assistant principal at Flomaton High School. He earned his Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Auburn University where he also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Economics and Business.
The final candidate will be interviewed on Thursday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m.
Kyle Ferguson, a resident of Northport, currently serves as the Leadership Coach for the Southern Regional Education Board. He has previously served as Principal at Columbus Success Academy in Mississippi and lead teacher at Columbus High School. His time as principal was spent with two stints at Thomasville High School, Northridge High School and Escambia County High School. He also served as assistant principal at C.F. Vigor High School and Escambia County High School. He earned a Certification in School Administration and Supervision from Alabama State University. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education with Specific Learning Disability from the University of South Alabama having earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Southeast Missouri State University in physical education and a minor in Psychology.
All interviews are open to the public and will be held at the Brewton City Board of Education meeting chambers. The office is located 811 Belleville Avenue in Brewton.
