The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is continuing an investigation into a homicide that occurred on Appleton Road recently.
According to Sheriff Heath Jackson, as of Tuesday no arrests have been made in the case, however, all leads are being carefully investigated.
The August 17 shooting death of Auburey “Mackie” Jackson is the subject of the investigation that Jackson says is nearing an arrest.
The incident occured just after 9 p.m. on Aug. 17 when reports of a man lying beside the road in the northern portion of Escambia County near the Conecuh County line came into the Sheriff’s office.
Jackson previously said that he responded along with deputies and investigators to the scene.
“Once it was determined the man was deceased, the case began to be investigated as a homicide,” Jackson said.
The on-going investigation has focused on the motive for the shooting and the person or persons responsible for the death of Jackson.
As with any homicide case, Jackson is asking the public to provide any information they feel may impact the case.
Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed any part of the incident is asked to contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office with that information.
Sheriff Jackson has not released any information on possible suspects in the case, but said those investigating will exhaust all efforts to find the responsible party in the death of Mackie Jackson.
Report any information connected to the case by calling the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at 251-809-2154.
