A special Brewton City Council meeting had only one item on the agenda — to name a replacement for Mark Manning on the Brewton City School Board.
Spinks Megginson was placed in the position following a unanimous vote by members of the council. Nominating Committee Chairman Joe Watson made the motion to name Megginson to the position. Councilor Feast Broughton seconded the motion and each member of the council voted in favor of Megginson’s appointment.
Megginson, a product of the Brewton City School System, said he was excited for the opportunity to serve on the board.
“I am excited to work with other school board members to make sure each student has the same, or preferably, better opportunities and experiences that I had going through Brewton City Schools,” Megginson said following the appointment.
Manning resigned from his position on the board last month.
