The W.S. Neal Blue Eagles took to the road Friday night traveling to Orange Beach to face the Makos in a region game.
In the game, the back-and-forth scoring would keep the game interesting throughout the first half of play.
Orange Beach scored first mid-way through the first quarter, putting them up early, 7-0 over the Eagles. A second quarter score by the Makos put them up 14-0.
But the Eagles weren’t out, answering with a score of their own with a 71-yard run by Jabrei Mackey. The extra point is no good, but the Eagles put 6 on the board.
Eagle Mackey takes the ball on a 45-yard romp to find the End Zone for the Eagles. A two-point conversion fails, but the Eagles tighten the score: With 8:04 left in the half: W.S. Neal 12; Orange Beach 14.
Both teams put a few more points on the board before the half-time buzzer sounds. Taking it to the locker rooms: W.S. Neal 24; Orange Beach 28.
In the second half, W.S. Neal continues to work to keep the pace with Orange Beach but come up short. Orange Beach would find the end zone twice more putting 42 total points on the board for the night
The Eagles would find some footing and put another 6 on the board and tack on 2 more with a successful two-point conversion giving them 32 on the board.
As the final minutes ticked down to end the game, the Eagles would make the long trip home putting an “L” in the books.
Final from Orange Beach:
W.S. Neal 32
Orange Beach 42
The Eagles will be back on the road next Friday night taking a trip to Marianna, Fla. for a non-region game. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
