Area organizations will once again have an opportunity to request funding through the Greater Brewton Foundation’s generous gifts.
Soon it will be time for the Greater Brewton Foundation to meet and review grant requests, according to members of the Foundation.
Applications are mailed to all the nonprofit organizations the Foundation is aware of to be returned with a request for funding.
“If you are a member of an organization that is new to our community or simply didn’t receive an application, there is still time to apply.
said Stephanie Walker, a member of the Foundation group.
The deadline for submission is October 31 and is a firm date, Walker said.
“This year the applications have changed so if you did not receive an application in the mail, you will need to request a grant form from: greaterbrewtonfoundation@gmail.com or sdwschool@gmail.com,” Walker said.
The Greater Brewton Foundation began as a public foundation in 1994. The Foundation’s mission is to provide support for the health, welfare, education, culture, recreation and neighborhood improvement in the Greater Brewton area. The first three grants awarded in 1995 went to the Brewton Public Library, Brewton City Schools and the Tree and Beautification Board. Grants continue to be awarded annually, in November, providing support over the years for special projects to more than thirty different non-profits: specifically eight public schools, three governmental entities, four healthcare organizations, three food pantries, three public safety providers and ten assorted non-profits (ie. Habitat, Red Cross, YMCA, Benevolent Fund).
